🌡️ What this means for COTA’s this quarter…flexibility is key!
The travel COTA market has been consistently competitive the last year or more. The market seems to have a little warm up this quarter, but competition and only a few hot states keep it tough out there!
What Nomadicare Recruiters are saying about it…
It is warmer than it has been lately, but if a COTA is not willing to go just about anywhere, specifically California, then it’s hard to place them.
Get’m while they’re hot. This market will likely taper off, so now is the time to book something where you have more options! Go to California!
It’s pretty dry. COTAs cannot be location specific and need to be willing to go anywhere. [In the next three months] I don’t see it getting much better.
I’d say it’s a cold market. COTAs really need to be open to many states and settings.

Our take at Nomadicare…
Never give up! The travel COTA job market seems to have a swing in the right direction this quarter, but the market is competitive and concentrated in certain states in the U.S. (but hey, California and New York might be looking good!). A travel COTA is usually required to have two years of experience before facilities will accept them as travelers as well, which requires a little more prep work, flexibility and open mindedness when being a travel COTA. This is not a travel position that is new grad-friendly.
It is more than likely that travel opportunities for COTAs will be in a SNF setting, so stay flexible there as well.
Our advice to our COTA travelers: Be as flexible as humanly possible! If you’re open to anywhere, any setting, open to different pay and benefits, there’s a good chance a rockstar recruiter can get you a position. If you’re ultra flexible and thinking of traveling in the next month or two, definitely get a recruiter on your team to help guide you though the opportunities out there for you, especially if you’re licensed in CA or NY!
